I have had a great trip to Japan and stayed with Sakamoto Shihan. Prior to my trip we were fortunate to have Watanabe Shihan take our classes. He had many good and great things to say to all of you about our high standard, the values we learn and the fact that I have been committed to the path of traditional karate-do and have not swayed towards competition sports karate. If I follow the modern trend I will be going against my conscious and the real reason why you have come to join my organisation. Everyone comes to my school to learn defence for self protection. My highest duty is to teach you exactly what you have come for namely self defence. I receive a fee from you for service and my obligation and responsibility is to serve you reach your highest potential of being an ideal person and a skillful artist in the art of Karate-do. Watanabe Shihan’s comments about our school has pleased me, as well as me going to Japan confirmed to me that we are on the right path. Mrs. Wakako Yamaguchi, Goshi Yamaguchi Shihan as well as Sakamoto Shihan were very pleased that we are doing so well and that Goshin kan is teaching Gogen Sensei’s way. Our dojo has a photo of Gogen Sensei and we know what his teaching was all about and this is what we practice. Goshin kan you are a unique club and an example for others to follow. Well done I am proud as a teacher that I have such good students and a school away from politics and competition. Kancho
